Fees: about the same, honestly

Founding artists on Melodon keep 90% of net fan club revenue — the same 10% platform fee that Patreon charges new creators on its standard plan. After the founding period, Melodon's standard rate is 15%. Neither platform is dramatically cheaper. The difference is what you get for the fee.

On Patreon, your fee pays for memberships. On Melodon, the same fee also covers the music player, the fan community, AskMe and discovery — the things you'd otherwise piece together from Spotify, Discord and a link-in-bio page.

Why musicians choose Melodon over Patreon

Your music and your members in one place

On Patreon, fans pay you in one app and listen to you in another. On Melodon, they listen, talk about the song and subscribe to your fan club without leaving the app — so the moment a fan falls for a track is the moment they can support you.

No pricing homework

Patreon lets you design any tiers you want, which also means deciding prices and perks on your own. Melodon fan clubs use three fixed tiers — Fan, Superfan and Patron — so fans always know what they're getting and you can start on day one.

A free community before the paywall

Every artist on Melodon gets a free community where any follower can post, comment and share. It gives casual listeners a reason to stay, and your fan club a natural next step. How communities work →

Fans can find you

Patreon works best when you already have an audience to send there. Melodon is a music app, so fans can discover you through your releases, your community and Discover.

When Patreon is the better fit

If you make more than music — long video series, podcasts, courses, art — or you want full control over custom tiers and perks, Patreon is built for that. Many artists will use both: Patreon for everything else, Melodon for the music and the fans around it. Melodon is non-exclusive, so you don't have to choose.
